It is very important to choose a proper location for the ingate in the precision casting, which must take into account many factors of casting and operation processes.
1) In casting shell fillings, careful consideration of ingate location avoids direct impact of metal liquid on the shell and cause shell bulging. Proper location may also prevent metal spatter and jet induced currents, inhale and slag.
2) When considering the shrinkage of castings, the inner gate should be at the juncture of the thin and thick wall or at the hottest sections so that the metal can have progressive solidification.
3) For larger castings with thin walls, the ingate should distribute temperature of the casting as uniform to help prevent casting deformation and warming defects.
4) Ingate location selection must consider the industrial operation in order to take into account the convenience of casting production, and should consider the quality of precision casting sought.
